SWG Fan Fest

Mal einige Dinge, die uns in Zukunft erwarten könnten.

Content:
- A video of upcoming stuff was shown at the end of the Fan Fest. It showed a player controlled TIE flying into the hangar bay of a Star Destroyer, the player walking through the Star Destroyer and to the bridge where Darth Vader was. Vader was in the company of all the Bounty Hunters from Empire Strikes Back and Vader hastily told the player to board the disabled Corellian Corvette outside the viewport. The player went back to his ship and left the hanger and flew and docked with the Vette and boarded and met light Rebel resistance and shot up the enemies and went to the bridge and WAS ABLE TO FLY THEIR OWN VETTE. The interior was just like the Vette mission instance you can take. The player opened up the Hyperspace map and flew to Naboo. The crowd went completely and utterly nuts at this. There were many cameras filming it, I am sure it will pop up during the day, if not already.
- The new lead content designer had been doing SWG for a couple months and was responsible for a lot of the cool new quests. She was a SWG Beta player and has been playing since and had a lot of wonderful ideas, feedback, and was taking notes like a mad woman. They are working very hard on true instancing where we can utilize empty buildings in NPC cities and various encounters. Once they conquer the true instancing hurdle, SWG will take a drastic turn towards some heavy hitting content.
- Content for EVERYONE. No one is excluded. From Entertainers to Smugglers to Droid Engineers to Jedi to Politicians – content is coming. There are going to be no more dedicated publishes. EVERYONE gets love in upcoming.
- Hoth as a Battlefield and Hoth Space (Asteroid Field) as a Space PvP zone was brought up by me and received very well by the devs and the players. With rewards for winners and participants daily.
- Coruscant Space was brought up by me as well, for space and ground driven content missions.
- Lando and Bespin were also mentioned as wants and Cloud City could be a crafter’s/miner’s paradise. The Devs loved it.
- Each planet (even Talus and Rori) are getting complete revamps of content, graphics, POIs, LOOT (everything will have loot we were told, good loot too, not broken datapads. If you kill a high end creature, you get high end loot. If you kill an easy NPC, you still get loot you can enjoy and use rather than want to burn)

GCW
- When asked about AT-ATs and AT-STs, the Devs responded, “Soon.”
- Ranking is going to be reworked to mean something. No concrete details, but possibly expect a FRS for Imperial/Rebel ranking (where there can only be say 25 Colonels, 10 Generals, 1 Admiral, etc on the server). Each ranking meaning something and adding bonuses to groups, faction.
- Planetary control items for cities and making the control something more than reduced faction costs.
- Battlefields are being removed completely. They talked of making complete planets or areas Battlefields (see Hoth above) but the existing little ringed areas will be removed and replaced with content.
- Specialty bases are being revamped (HQ, Med Center) to serve a more direct purpose and they are making so the high spawn rates of the NPCs not effect the planetary spawns (Krayts, etc)
- Unfortunately the panel didn’t get beyond this because a huge debate erupted about the BARC speeder between this 16 year old kid and Rogue_5 and the focus shifted from the GCW to shutting this kid up.

Smuggler
- The new slicing mini-game where you can choose what you want to slice is in the pipes and almost here.
- Smuggler revamp will be spread across a couple publishes. You want to smuggle, eh? Get ready.
- I asked if Smugglers/IDs can work together to make temporary disguises so a Rebel can do an Imperial quest or simply appear as an ST for a very short time (see Han and Luke on the Death Star). Well received, the IDs present went nuts for that.
- Spices will get reworked as well, making them slightly better than foods – but at a penalty to other things plus downtime. It was very important for the penalty, as to keep chefs happy as well.

Entertainer Professions
- Scars and such are a big want on both sides. However another layer would be added to all toons for that and it would be simply a lag issue. They didn’t say no, but they said it was something that needed to be fun and not a lag machine.
- Accessories such as earrings and Wookiee braids however are not on the same level of scars and the devs really want to give each race things that can help distinguish our characters further.
- AFK Entertaining is being looked at heavily. It’s a touchy subject and the Devs do not want it to continue. Handling afk is difficult and they are really trying to make steps to make it go away. One dev put it, “Well if we make entertainer more entertaining, players won’t want to go afk.” I think several women threw their panties at him for it. Very well received.
- Entertainer content coming. A possible “notoriety” system where entertainers can go through ranks and distinguish themselves as a favorite of Jabba or of the Imperial Troops or of the people. Each giving unique rewards (special tattoos, jewelry, outfits, dances, songs, etc were discussed as perks)

Ranged/Melee Professions
- Dual wield is coming, but it is an art issue and its just not high on the stack to be completed. Professions with possible dual wield would be Pistoleer, Smuggler, BH, Fencer, Master Lightsaber. Nothing in stone, still in the air.

Jedi
- FRS is being reworked, making it viable, unexploitable, and fun.
- The Jedi in the GCW talks were tense at times, but solutions are coming to alleviate tension on both sides and make Jedi less of an annoyance to everyone and back to being cool. Things like Robes adding visibility and possibly no saber use in NPC cities (extreme measure, but it was discussed).
- Light and Dark will have an effect on your Jedi with the new FRS. Anyone can have powers, but you will really want to be Dark if you have powers. “More than just mods,” they said with a grin. Who knows?
- Order 66 and Imperial Jedi was discussed. With the movie, that made it official canon and Blixtev said, “We really have to re-examine this and talk to the Ranch (Skywalker Ranch, basically – George Lucas) and see what we need to do.”
- Jedi content (special crystals, FRS dynamic server quests, etc) was discussed briefly. Keeping Jedi vs Jedi and Jedi happy with doing what Jedi are supposed do, not ganking and wanting to camp in Theed – was very important to everyone.
- Elemental damage is being fixed.

Space
- Capitol ships are in the pipes (see above, actual video was shown)
- New ships as far as art time are very difficult, but very desired. The Devs said at one point that any ship you’ve seen in the movies and then some they’d like to have in the game over time. A specific name I heard over and over was the Naboo Starfighter/Padme’s Cruiser.
- Loot rebalance in space.
- GCW tied into space combat with potential factional/guild stations and ships that will effect ground and space control.
